If anyone is curious as to how cold it is here in Madison, Wisconsin, here's a clue:

VERY

However, that means I made the cover story of the Daily Cardinal, one of the student newspapers, by being in the right place at the right time and by fucking freezing. That picture of the person who is completely covered except for her eyes? Yes. That's me. *waves*

(Incidentally, that's the hat I just finished knitting, and it kept my ears nice and toasty.)

That's -35 F, yes? Wow. Here it's only 5 F or so, but the proximity to the sea makes it much colder. I don't think I could cope with -35.

I need a hat like that, the one I wear doesn't cover my ears properly and they were about to fall off this morning.

Yes it is. It wouldn't be so bad if the wind chill were one of those made-up things weather forecasters like to flaunt, but whatever genius decided to build Madison surrounded by lakes ensured that all future generations would have to deal with pretty much incessant wind.

I really like this hat. It's a new step for me--before it, I had the Ugliest Hat Ever, complete with earflaps. It was warm, but also rather hideous.

Your hat looks very warm. You look very cold. Is your school trying to kill you? I think you may have to consider that possibility, Wisconsin or no...

I think it must be. I love that the administrators said they'd consider cancelling class with wind chill down to -60 degrees. Like anyone would show up if it were actually that cold.

lol, I actually came here for the winter, so I don't really have the right to complain. Except sometimes when I do anyway. You get used to it.

I love that scarf. My cousin actually crocheted it for me when I mentioned I was going to school here, and it's wonderful because it wraps around my face a bunch of times but still allows me to breathe. It also saved a drunk girl's feet from frostbite one time when I was standing in a bus stop with her and she had shoes completely inappropriate for the weather on.

I love your coat/hat. I bought an amazingly furry beast of a hat in Scotland and it's awesome. Except that it messes my hair up and I usually only emerge from the house in winter when I have like a date or plans or something that requires me styling my hair.

That coat was the best investment I ever made. It's like a sleeping bag with sleeves.

That sounds like an amazing hat! People who live in cold climates know what's what with their winter gear, seriously. And I've just given up trying to style my hair in the winter. :P

Oh, yes! I meant to tell you and then I...didn't. I haven't tried it yet, because I'm still working on my self-imposed two-week trial of the first lotion I bought, but I will later this week.

It smells lovely, though, and I can't wait to try it out. Thank you so much. :)

Ooh it's so much cuter then the picture. You look like you're having a blast! (haha had to add in some Pop humor right there)

You'll be glad to come visit in March I'm sure. In the meantime, dress in a t-shirt and stay in the apartment. :)

OMG LINA IT IS SO COLD. *dies*

Also, I might have to appropriate the SPN slash anthology for a while. Even though it's yours. Just. You know. Because.

Also the second, we will have to watch at least some of FNL/SPN together one night because OMG.

Also the third, what do you want for your birthday and would you be opposed to fic? *is poor* Addendum to Also the third, if fic is mostly sufficient with the addition of a small trivial present purchase, what sort of fic would you like?

Heehee I didn't even wear a hat today.

I've barely touched the SPN slash anthology because I'm afraid of reading the whole thing. I don't want it to be finished. Ever.

Um? SPN watchage? Goes without saying. I have all of season 2 on my computer cause I've been keeping them, so...

I would not be opposed to fic (and the scarf?) and I'll have to think about what kind. Maybe a poem too? :)

I hate you a little bit.

The scarf will definitely be done. I'm pretty much done except for the end ruffle now, anyway.

Dude, sign on AIM. I have squeeage and ficwriting to throw at you.

Cool! I meant that as in ... neat! :p

But yes, cold. Wow. I don't think I cold handle that. (I don't have a memory of being in anything less than in the +20s.) But hey, the article said that it's the coldest week because it's the exact middle of winter, so it will only get warmer, right? :P

Yeah, it'll probably hover just around 20 for the next week or two and then start the slow bloom into spring. With a week off in April or May for a blizzard. Ah, Wisconsin.
