I know very little about some of the people on my friends list. Some people I know relatively well. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you friended me and I thank you.

But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...she likes office p0rn supplies."

I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal.

And then for lots of fun, you can bring up something obscure. Because it's no fun being obvious.

Since everyone's posted this "tell me a little something about yourself" meme and I've been meaning to respond to it but haven't, here are ten little somethings about me from which you can pick and choose at will:

1. I hate ironing, not because it's tedious or because I think that folding pillowcases in thirds and then in thirds again is anal, but because I can't stand the smell of warm, damp cloth.

2. I adore N. C. Wyeth illustrations and own a lot of books I have not the slightest intention of reading just because he illustrated them.

3. For about two years in middle school, I was obsessed with Greek mythology; I still know most of the overreaching story arcs and a lot of obscure details about the relationships between players.

4. I'm not usually very emotional, but movies always hold the power to make me cry.

5. I read much more "Children's" literature than "Adult" literature because I find the relationships and ideas in books written for kids to be much more palatable. Of course, I read an immense amount of adult-themed fic, which might be part of the reason I shy from adult literature--the latter has just never been able to appeal to me.

6. A few Christmases ago, I received an Affirmation Ball from Mom, who delights in such strange and strangely cute gifts. I thought it was ridiculous and sort of funny at the time, but every once in a while I catch myself looking at it for a little bit of support.

7. I spend way too much of my time playing the original Super Mario Bros. (Nintendo--1985), as emulated on my computer. I actually beat the game, which is beyond sad, if you think about it. Don't think about it.

8. If you've ever sent me anything, I still have it. I never throw away letters or cards, because they're both a dying species and I feel reluctant to let them go.

9. When Mom doesn't remind me, I don't eat lunch. This is not a conscious decision on my part--I literally forget lunch every day unless I pack it in the morning or have someone yell at me to eat something. When I'm home alone, I often go ten hours without eating and without noticing I haven't eaten. Healthy? Probably not. A useful skill for college? Well, we'll see....

10. I'm impatient. I'm the most impatient person you'll ever meet. I become impatient when the water pressure in the sink is slightly below normal. But I'm also excellent at pretending to be a patient person, which is what it's really about.

...and an extra bonus...

11. I have brown eyes.

I don't actually like chocolate all that much. And if I do eat it, it has to have peanuts or something else salty. I can usually eat dark chocolate because it's bitter.

AS an oddity, my big weakness is Starbucks' Double Chocolate Chip frappucinos.

I know what you mean--I think dark chocolate is absolutely to die for but am rather meh about other varieties.

Ooh, Double Chocolate Chip frappucinos. It's probably safe to say that you've hit the weakness of about 99% of the American public. ;)

Even though I'm not big on divulging information about my relationships and am very "secret" when it comes to the "guy thing," I'm actually a really obsessive person. When I become attracted to someone, I become really attracted to that someone (to the point where I know their schedule) but find that one of the most embarrassing things during my "infatuation" period is to have my interest uncovered. I like to be very under-the-table and secretive in my "dealings;" unless things are going exceptionally well or a relationship is really underway, I won’t say a word to my friends.

I have issues opening up.

These things make me squirm the way Alexis Bledel does when they ask about her relationship with Milo V.

Like I explained, it's not for a lack of affection or interest, either .. it's just this instinctive, "oh, god, this is weird. And awkward."
