In this update, we will observe a moment of silence in honor of Am, who resigned from her mod-ship at the JC, effective sometime soon. We mourn the passing of the Great Pink One. We fear that the new mod will not have such great taste in colors. Our deepest fear, however, is that the newest mod will emulate DarthSapient or The Bigger Fish and choose bright colors that do not fit into the quiet milieu of the Fan Fiction Boards. We are currently taking a collection, the proceeds from which will go toward bribing the new mod to take calm colors. Contact Xaara for further information. :P

In other news, I finally finished putting together all the pieces of the newsletter. Although I stayed up late into the night before my physics test scheduled for the next day, the newsletter was done on time and out on the boards before I allowed myself to fall in bed for three hours of sleep. Sleep is something I need more of. It's also something I hate. What a horribly vicious cycle.

I've regained most of the range of motion in my neck and shoulders after the incident with the brutal girl on Tuesday, but I still can't turn my head to the right as far as I can usually, and I can't tip my head back very far at all. My mom tells me that I'm not allowed to be injured again or she'll take the matter into her own hands and prevent me from playing. I tried to explain to her that I'm not hurt voluntarily, but she would have none of it. The school nurse, upon seeing the bruises over much of my upper body, pulled me aside and confided, "You know dear, I'm always available if there's anything you want to talk about." I told her that I played softball. She looked at me with that pitying Poor dear, she's in denial glimmer in her eyes. I gave up.

I've finally narrowed my college choices down to two major and a few minor schools. Right now, they rank, in order of preference: Northwestern, University of Wisconsin, Boston College, University of Chicago, George Washington University. These preferences may or may not change depending on the results of various campus tours I'm going on over the next week. I can't wait to see Northwestern again - I fell in love with it the first time I went there and I haven't stopped liking it since. It's almost prohibitively expensive, though. When my mom went to college there, she worked her way through her tuition. Now it costs the upwards of 40,000 USD per year, which is more than many people earn in a year. There's no way I can work my way through a school that costs that kind of money. But there's always hope. I have a tiny voice in the back of my head that says "Don't despair! You might have some filthy rich relative you've never met who will leave his entire estate to you."

I need a rich relative.

*hugs* That tribute was extremely touching. You know, I tried to bribe the new WNU mod to try out pink, but she went with the cliché red and black. Then, I hinted at RRK to try the beautiful pink, but she decided on something bland. Darn! Where is Mr. Pink crayon left now?

*has friended Am* ;)

You're welcome. I am relieved to see that RRK chose nice, elegant, if somewhat uninspiring colors. It's strange to see a bluey-green up in the header where the pink used to be, but I suspect I'll learn to adjust eventually.

I'm glad you finally created an LJ! *hops off to read Am's post*
