Public Transportation
Nov. 7th, 2004 02:07 pmThere were easily a hundred
of us in the train station, so
when the payphone began its tchiiiing-tchiiiing,
there followed a great shifting
of bodies, briefcases, backpacks
as we all turned to look,
then turned back to face the tracks.
The phone rang and rang and rang.
Nobody picked it up.
