Miscellaneous natterings
Aug. 14th, 2004 09:33 pmThe Prologue from Hell is finally finished. Just in time, too, because tomorrow it's another round of
open_on_sunday followed by some intensive Home in Time for Supper and perhaps some playing around with a post-Not Fade Away Angelfic that's been bouncing around for a while now.
While I'm thinking about writing, is anyone besides Oba doing NaNoWriMo? Because if anyone is, we should start a support group. I know I'm going to need one, and complaining to friends beats complaining to yourself any day. :)
I watched the Opening Ceremonies, which were nice enough but not the most impressive I've ever seen. The guys were quite nice-looking, though, and that one man who balanced on the rotating cube in the middle of the water was really impressive. And I loved the whole drumming thing at the beginning. Anything with drums in it is automatically cool.
I wanted to go out and train for volleyball season but the weather was to iffy. Hopefully, I'll be able to work out a little tomorrow. Maybe I'll even be able to convince one of my siblings to set me up so I can get my spike footing back together. It's been too long since I seriously played volleyball - I really need to get back into the swing of things before school so I can be a good captain.
This hurricane that was supposed to blow the roof off and flash-flood the sidewalk? Never materialized. Of course, that probably means that it's going to start raining, thundering, and lightninging in the middle of the night, which would be wonderful. I can't tell you how much I love thunderstorms, hurricanes, tornadoes, huge waves, and other wind-and-water-related natural phenomena. For the longest time, I wanted to be one of those pilots who flies through hurricanes to collect data about them.
Or maybe I just have a really obtuse death wish. ;)

Not Very Scary Movies
Willow, Post-Chosen
Once you've seen a few apocalypses, suddenly humans just aren't that scary. Sure, one could always jump out at you from the shadows and try to hit you with a baseball bat, but seriously? That mugger has nothing on even a medium-sized practically invincible demon.
Still, sometimes I wish I could go see a horror movie without thinking about the real (and much scarier) horror I've actually seen. The horror I've made.
Sometimes I wish I could go back for a minute, make a few different choices, kiss Tara one last time.
But I keep my silence. Wishes are dangerous.

Early Drafts of Surprise Endings
Buffy, Post-Chosen
There are a lot of things that should have gone differently. But we were supposed to have time to talk about stuff, to figure it out.
Angel was supposed to be around, to be the supporty guy in my life. Mom was supposed to be. Tara was supposed to live and grow old and be Dawn's child's favorite Aunt.
I was supposed to stay dead.
I wasn't supposed to love a vampire who had come into town trying to kill me. Especially not after....
And even though I have the suckiest timing ever, dammit, he was supposed to believe me.

Date: 2004-08-15 02:30 pm (UTC)It's in November again, isn't it? Then I still have time to decide... It's not that I wouldn't like to do it, but I have unfinished fic lying around like whoa... I guess a "drabble a day" commitment would be more realistic for me than a "crank out a novel in a month" commitment. Speaking of which - your drabbles are still good. :)
