It's been an interminable week - I haven't had any time to write for myself, much less work on any of my long-term projects or update here. In one of my few minutes of spare time I chanced across National Novel Writing Month, a program that seems like a lot of fun...from a distance. The goal: to write a 50,000+ word novel during the month of November. The prize: the satisfaction of knowing that you've survived to tell about it. I think I might enter this fall, depending on my workload. At any rate, if I were an English teacher (as I aspire to be), I think I'd bring it into my classroom. I would have loved to dedicate a month to uninterrupted writing while in middle school or early high school.

Watched Memento three times this week for an essay, and liked it every time. It was a lot of fun to watch the second time, and slightly easier to analyze the third. The first time just confused me from the beginning until about the halfway point. In order to realize exactly what subtlety went into the making of the movie, especially the little clues that appear all over the first half, you have to see it more than once. It's simply necessary.

I'm peeved at my English grade - a B+. I know I sound like a total whiner, but I've never gotten below an A before. English has always been my strongest subject, but I scored the highest in Physics, where I had an A+ average for the semester. The B+ in English was actually my lowest grade, and since I take APs the weighted grades support my GPA. Still...

I know, I'm a nerd. Always have been, always will be. I'm a stereotypical reclusive writer, and my friends know that about me. Most of the time, I'm quite happy with a notebook in my hand, sitting at the edge of a room and taking notes on conversations I can hear going on around me. I could spend my life in a train station or an airport, just people-watching. People are so endlessly interesting.
