Because I'm up late and can't sleep, and because I haven't been able to relax lately, I'm writing myself a list of thirty little things I love:

1. The sound of rain in the middle of the night
2. The way a fountain pen scratches against good paper
3. The feel of cool dry air in the bathroom right after I step out of the shower
4. The color of our neighbor's Japanese maple
5. Blueberry pancakes
6. College-ruled paper
7. Carbonated drinks on a sore throat
8. The way a lighthouse shines through fog in Maine
9. The moment when I realize I've fallen in love
10. Finding a perfect verb
11. Standing on the Mall and watching the Capitol
12. Curling up on the couch under a heavy quilt
13. Making a perfect set to my outside hitter

17. The way the sunset reflects off of ash rising from Mt. Etna

19. Hitting just the right inflection on the marimba
