Evil germs vs. little sisters
Jun. 23rd, 2004 11:29 pmMy little sister has the strangest immune system in the world. She doesn't get bronchitis or strep infections with the rest of the family; she doesn't get the flu when it goes around; but she gets the oddest diseases that no one else succumbs to.
Today she was admitted to the hospital for a foot infection originating (we think) from a splinter she got almost a week ago. She'll be fine, really, but the doctors want to put her on IV antibiotics and keep her under observation for a day or two. Still, she's the only one in my family who ever gets these sorts of things. I play all sorts of sports that involve exposing myself to severe damage, and I've never gotten an infection. She doesn't do anything except run around with her friends, but pretty much every time her skin encounters something sharp, the wound is somehow more complicated than it seems.
Love ya, kid, but let's try skinning the knee without the subsequent infection sometime.
You're probably reading this, sis. And since I now feel bad for being annoyed about something you can't control, massive e-hugs for my favorite little brat. Get well soon, and enjoy your hospital-sponsored cable TV! :)

I don't know what Giles is going to do now that he has no ties to Sunnydale, but I wish he'd decide already. I have to be extra cheerful for customers so they don't leave when they see him.
Still, I can't precisely tell him to go. He is, after all, the owner of the Magic Box.
"Giles, are you all right?" I ask.
He stares straight through me. I set a hand on his arm.
"Giles?"
"Anya." He's hugging me, and I hug him back because that is what he wants.
Do I want this? Humans are so complicated!
