running with the devil (or possibly the Winchesters)

Yesterday, I made seitan, curried pumpkin seeds, homemade Larabars, and experimental millet-oat-date cookies.

Making seitan is always a kind of gross and squishy procedure (think wet brains), but it's worth it in the end, when you magically transform about $3 of food into something that would cost you more like $20 at the grocery. Plus, delicious.

Anyway. As I was indulging my inner foodie, I started wondering about this podfic thing. It's new to me, since I haven't been around in a few years, but it sounds interesting. Two points for the pun! Seriously, though, I do a lot of distance running, which means I spend 8+ hours a week out on the road with nothing but my iPod to keep me company. I've grown a little weary of my music collection, and of my iPod thinking it's clever and lining up sequences like Separate Ways-Because the Night-Barbie Girl-Shooting Shark-Unchained. (Someday love will find you because the night is made for lovers, fantastically created in plastic which lights up the sky. Also, that suit is you.) Yeah, my iPod is a little annoying sometimes.

So: podfics. I'm looking for fics about 30-90 minutes long, and I'm not too picky about content as long as they're interesting, clear, and well-written. Any recommendations?

Here is a 90 minute long podfic of 'Tin Soldier' by [livejournal.com profile] unoshot, who is one of my favorite SPN writers. She writes my favorite Dean/Castiel. I mean, she writes gen. But, totally Dean/Cas gen, yanno I mean?

Dude. This is awesome. (I have been using the word awesome way too much lately, but I can't stop.)

I took it for a test run this afternoon and think I startled a passing biker when I said "Oh, Cas" around mile 6. Also, he and Dean are so into each other it's not even funny.

I am totally guilty of overusing 'awesome'. Also of overusing 'totally'.

I highly recommend her other fics! CAS AND DEAN ARE SO INTO EACH OTHER IT'S LIKE RAINBOWS IN MY HEART.

Also oh my god I just wrote you a fricking novel in our other comment thread.

Lol I saw the novel and I am so excited to get to it when I am (a) not coming back from a "we all just quit our part-time job because our boss is crazy" party and (b) sober. Upon further consideration, (a) and (b) may be fairly synonymous. Tomorrow morning it is!

Also, I just finished listening to the podfic on my walk home from the bar and it is fantastic. I now have to read it in text form so I can comment on it, but it made me laugh and tear up and generally behave inappropriately in public (though I was riding the bus during much of it and was thus disguised among the other crazy people.)

Also the second, it is totally awesome to overuse "totally" and "awesome." Just sayin'. :P
